How to Choose the Right Cabinetry for Your Kitchen

Kitchen cabinetry sets the tone for every kitchen. It is the most prominent feature of the area, so having the right style that complements the entire home is key to a successful kitchen design. With all of the options and styles available, we know that choosing the right cabinetry can be a difficult decision, but don’t feel overwhelmed! Here are some important factors to keep mind to help you choose the perfect cabinetry for your kitchen.

Cabinet Types

Kitchen cabinetry usually falls into three different categories: stock, semi-custom and custom. Stock cabinets are purchased directly from the manufacturer, which means you don’t have much flexibility in terms of adding your own style and flare. Semi-custom cabinets are in the middle in terms of pricing, and you can customize certain features such as sizing and materials, but you won’t have free reign. Custom cabinets are at the highest end of the spectrum for pricing because you can include any specific features you desire and they can be made exactly how you want them. This is perfect if you want your kitchen to have a unique and personalized look.

Cabinet Construction

It’s important to know the difference between the two types of cabinet construction: framed and frameless. Framed cabinets have a box and a face frame, which covers the front of the cabinet box and have doors and drawers attached to them. The doors are secured to the frame, which gives the cabinet more sturdiness. Frameless construction (also known as European style), doesn’t have the face frame, which means the doors and drawers are attached to the cabinet box. This provides a sleeker and more contemporary look.

Features

When it comes to kitchen cabinetry, style and functionality go hand in hand. Maximizing your kitchen storage with additional accessories and features should be one of your primary goals for your kitchen remodeling project. There are different types of features that provide smart and strategic storage. A few examples are drawers and sliding shelves, vertical dividers, trash pull-outs, roll-out pantries, and corner carousel shelves. There are lots of features that can be used so the storage of your kitchen cabinetry can reach its full potential!
